We’re excited to announce that Eliatra is now a founding member of the newly established
OpenSearch Software Foundation under the Linux Foundation! This is a big step for us and
reinforces our commitment to driving innovation in the open-source search and analytics
space.
Our Journey in Open Source Search
With over a decade of experience in search technologies, we’ve been deeply involved with
OpenSearch since it began in 2021. As maintainers of the
Security and Operator Repositoryfor
OpenSearch, we play a crucial role in keeping the platform secure and robust. Our experience dates back to the early days of Elasticsearch, so we know a thing or two about the Open Source search ecosystem!
“Our journey in open source search has been over a decade in the making, and it’s been
amazing to help shape OpenSearch from the start,” said Jochen Kressin, Co-Founder &
Director at Eliatra. “We’ve worked hard to improve the project’s security and performance,
ensuring OpenSearch remains a solid and reliable choice for businesses everywhere.”
Building on this, we are proud to share that Nils Bandener has recently been invited to join the group of maintainers for the OpenSearch Security Repository. This recognition highlights both Eliatra’s and Nils’ expertise within the OpenSearch project and reflects his significant contributions to enhancing security across the platform. His involvement underscores our commitment to OpenSearch and the broader open-source ecosystem, ensuring the community thrives through collaboration and innovation.
We look forward to Nils’ continued impact in this role and to advancing OpenSearch as a secure and powerful solution for businesses worldwide.
Committed to Open Governance and Collaboration
Now that OpenSearch is part of the Linux Foundation, we see new opportunities for open
governance and community-driven growth. As a founding member, we’re excited to keep
playing a big part in OpenSearch’s future.
“Joining the OpenSearch Software Foundation under the Linux Foundation is a fantastic
opportunity. It’s the perfect platform for collaboration and innovation.
Together with the community, we’re here to help shape the future of open-source search
solutions, making sure they stay powerful, secure, and accessible for everyone.” - Jochen

What’s Next for Us
As we dive into this new chapter with the OpenSearch Software Foundation, we’re focusing
on three key areas:
1. Making OpenSearch Even Better with the Eliatra Distro
We’re enhancing OpenSearch with our
Eliatra Distro, which comes with guaranteed SLAs for
mission-critical production systems. Whether you need quick fixes or long-term stability,
we’ve got you covered with support that ranges from web-based assistance to full 24/7
coverage.
2. Providing Managed Services with Data Sovereignty
We’re launching a new
managed service with data hosted exclusively in Germany. This is perfect for customers dealing with highly sensitive data who need to comply with strict data sovereignty rules without losing out on innovation or functionality.
3. Using AI to Unlock Data Insights
We’re all about
leveraging AI and machine learning to find smarter ways to analyze and
interact with data. By working closely with other foundation members, we’re looking to drive innovation in search, analytics, and observability, keeping OpenSearch ahead of the curve.
Join Us in This Exciting Journey!
As OpenSearch enters this exciting new chapter, we’d love for developers, organizations, and search enthusiasts to join the vibrant OpenSearch community. Together, we can push the
boundaries of what’s possible in open-source search and analytics.
